戦争のニュースを毎日のように目にします。
暴力に抵抗するために、私にできることは何だろうと考えてきました。
一人の人間にできることは限られています。
爆弾のような強力な衝撃を私は生み出せません。
では、何もできないのかと問われると
そうでもない気がします。
小さな風なら、私にも起こせるのではないか
そう思って絵を描きました。
つかの間でも見た人の心がほっとするような
ささやかなものを作りたいと思いました。
ピンと張り詰めていた気持ちが自然とゆるむ。
そういうものを目指してみました。
ほっとしたときに出る小さなため息が
やがて集まり、やわらかい風になって
世界を優しく包んでくれることを願って。
I see news of war almost every day.
I have been thinking about what I can do to resist violence.
There is only so much that an ordinary person can do.
I cannot create an impact as powerful as a bomb.
But does that mean there is nothing I can do?
I believe not.
Perhaps I can create a gentle breeze,
and motivated by this, I began to draw.
I want to create something modest,
a piece that can bring a moment of relief to those who see it.
The tense feeling loosens naturally.
That is the vision I pursue.
I dream of the small sighs of relief that my work inspires,
gathering together to form a soft wind,
one that gently carries peace to the world.
